A report containing the views of young people in a part of Kerry has been launched.
Minister for Education and Fianna Fáil TD Norma Foley launched the IRD Duhallow Youth Needs Analysis Study, which was backed by the North Cork, South Cork and Kerry Local Action Groups.
This research report represents one of the most extensive and in-depth studies undertaken among young people in rural Ireland.
The surveys deal with experiences and perceptions among school-aged teenagers, the views of young adults, along with a focus on the impact of COVID-19 on rural young people.
The findings also suggest that, despite the areas concerned being traditionally affected by outward migration, a majority of today’s youth would like to settle down and raise a family locally.
