Repair works to a burst water main in Farranfore have now been completed.
That’s according to Cathaoirleach of the Castleisland-Corca Dhuibhne Municipal District, Cllr Fionnán Fitzgerald.
The burst water main has left people in the wider Farranfore area without water, and has rendered roads impassable.
The major burst in the village has affected the water supply to people in Farranfore, Scartaglin, Cordal, Currans, Currow, Ballymacelligott, Firies, Castlemaine and Milltown, for the second time in a month.
Having been left impassable by the burst, diversions remain on the N22 from Farranfore to Tralee, although one lane is now open to traffic travelling from Tralee to Killarney.
It’s hoped the road will be fully reopened within the next two hours, but traffic is still heavy in and around Farranfore village.
Councillor Fionnán Fitzgerald praised Kerry County Council crews for getting repair works completed in difficult working conditions, but said the burst has been a source of huge frustration for locals.
