The remaining wild boar roaming East Kerry has been “removed”, according to the National Parks and Wildlife Service.
Seven wild boar or feral pigs were seen last weekend in the Mount Eagle and Knockatee area of Cordal, a popular walking area for locals.
The NPWS was contacted and they euthanised six of the seven animals during the week, but one boar remained unaccounted for.
The National Parks and Wildlife said the decision to euthanise the animals was taken to protect biodiversity and stop any potential spread of disease.
A spokesperson for the NPWS has told Radio Kerry the remaining boar was “removed” on Friday and sent to the regional veterinary lab for testing.
