The proposed redevelopment of the former Dingle Workhouse is ongoing.
Following consultation, a feasibility study and the commissioning of a masterplan, Mórtas Pobail received permission to change the use of the former hospital buildings to a mixed-use facility late last year.
The facility on Goat Street closed to patients in 2010 when the West Kerry Community Hospital was opened.
Late last year, planning permission was granted for a major redevelopment of the former Dingle Hospital.
The proposed redevelopment includes an immersive and interpretative tourism experience and exhibition facility with an entrance atrium, two exhibition galleries, auditorium and café.
An enterprise hub will also be developed on the site with offices, training and workshop facilities.
Údarás na Gaeltachta, which is managing the redevelopment, says previously announced funding has helped the project reach the planning stages.
Its staff are supported in this work by specialist external consultants as appropriate.
Údarás na Gaeltachta, working with the local co ordinating group and partner organisations, is examining different strategies and potential funding mechanisms which are available to support projects of this scale.
