It's been proposed to twin the towns of Castleisland and Dingle.
That's the call from Michael John Kearney, the chairperson of Castleisland Chamber Alliance, who spoke to the council and councillors at the recent municipal district meeting.
Michael John Kearney raised a number of issues at the Castleisland Corca Dhuibhne Municipal District meeting, including those relating to housing, zoning and strategic development.
He said additional signage is needed to advertise the town, roundabouts are not manicured to the extent of Tralee or Killarney roundabouts and, despite having such wide streets, more space is needed for outdoor dining in Castleisland during the ongoing pandemic.
Mr Kearney said there is potential for another nursing home or stepdown facilities, camper van stopover facilities could be created locally and planned walk/cycleways in the county should include Castleisland.
The chair called on Kerry County Council to play its part in developing the town of Castleisland, adding a twinning between the town and Dingle should be examined.
Issues relating to the road network to Farranfore, housing need and zoning for industrial development were also highlighted.
Fine Gael councillor Bobby O'Connell, who brought the deputation, acknowledged the work of the chamber, adding that Castleisland stood quietly by while being part of the Killarney or Tralee council districts in the past.
