There’ll be no St Patrick’s Day parade in Killarney this year, but plans are in place to turn the town green to mark the occasion.

The greening of the town’s famous buildings has become a signature part of the festival in recent years, with landmarks like Ross Castle, St Mary’s Cathedral, the Franciscan Friary, St Mary’s Church of Ireland, Killarney Methodist Church and Killarney Courthouse all being lit up.

St Patrick’s Festival chairman Paul Sherry is inviting the town’s business community to take part in the Killarney Goes Green initiative.

He hopes it’ll be possible to run the parade next year.
