People are being urged to exercise caution outdoors this weekend because of a high risk of fire.
Teagasc is urging famers, land owners, rural dwellers and those using the countryside to be extremely vigilant in light of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine’s Condition Orange Fire risk alert.
Teagasc says there's a high fire risk in all areas where hazardous or shrub fuels such as dead grasses, heather and gorse exist, due to high pressure weather.
People are also being reminded that it is illegal to burn growing vegetation on uncultivated land between 1st March and 31st August.
John Casey, Teagasc Forestry Development Officer, says this high fire risk phase is expected to peak today but the warning remains in place until Monday April 19th.
