People in North Kerry are being told to “use it or lose it” in relation to SouthDoc services.

In the early stages of the pandemic, Listowel’s SouthDoc hub was closed, with services consolidated in Tralee and Killarney.

Following work by public representatives, the service was restored to Listowel this week.

Cathaoirleach of the Listowel Municipal District Fine Gael councillor Mike Kennelly says the hub is now located at the Listowel Primary Care Centre.

The cathaoirleach says the Shannon Estuary Taskforce, which is due to be finalised before July 17th, will present its findings before the year end.

The regional jobs taskforce will examine ways to develop the economic potential of the estuary across Kerry, Limerick and Clare.

Shannon Airport, the biggest airport in the region, was impacted in recent weeks by news that Aer Lingus will be closing its base there.

Cathaoirleach Mike Kennelly says he’s been assured that the airport won’t be focused upon to the detriment of North Kerry.
