Tralee Chamber Alliance is encouraging people to submit their dreams for a better Tralee.
Kerry County Council is seeking early stage submissions for the Kerry County Development Plan 2022-2028, and the Chamber wants people to get involved.
Chief Executive of Tralee Chamber Alliance, Ken Tobin says it may be difficult to imagine a roadmap on returning to normal, but adds they don’t want this as normal didn’t work for everyone.
He says there are changes that need to be made to Tralee, that locally people can control by making submissions on the new Kerry County Development Plan.
The chamber this week put forward a detailed submission, which people can view on Tralee.ie and on the chamber’s social media channels.
It includes a targeted 30% increase in the population in Tralee, including 225 new jobs per year.
They proposes wiping out commercial vacancy and empty sites in the town centre with new homes and businesses, as well as plans to rehouse the town library and other buildings.
Tralee Chamber is also suggesting the development of a logistics and transport hub in Farranfore, including relocating the railway station to the airport .
They’re also recommending a new plan that will bring Fenit village forward as a tourism and education hub.
