Over €33,000 (€33,575) in funding has been allocated for biodiversity projects in Kerry.
The funding comes as part of the government's National Biodiversity Local Authority Grant Scheme.
Almost €19,000 (€18,700) will go towards a survey of upland birds in the McGillycuddy Reeks Special Conservation Area, which will also involve community talks and workshops about the area's importance.
€10,000 (€10,625) has been allocated for an awareness campaign for local communities around rhododendron and appropriate methods of controlling it, while over €4,000 (€4,250) will go towards a Barn Owl monitoring and conservation project.
Green Party Killarney representative, Diarmaid Griffin, says these are important conservation projects around the county.
