Over €1 million of the active travel funding recently announced for Kerry will go to cycleways in Tralee.
€5.6 million in funding was announced last month to develop walking and cycling infrastructure in Kerry.
A full breakdown of the projects that will be funded by this was given at the recent meeting of Kerry County Council.
Of the €5.6 million, €500,000 will go towards mobility plans in Tralee, Killarney and Listowel.
In Tralee, €850,000 will be used for an interconnected network of cycleways on the Bracker O'Regan Road, locally known as the 'Fat Mile'.
€515,000 has been set aside for junction upgrades in the town.
€180,000 will go towards cycleways in the Town Park, and €100,000 for cycleways to connect the canal and the town centre.
In Killarney, €550,000 has been allocated for the Flesk cycleway and walkway, and €300,000 for Rock Road.
€450,000 will be used for a Greenway link in Listowel, while €300,000 has been allocated for Kilmurry Road in Kenmare.
€250,000 has been set aside for Sunhill in Killorglin, and €50,000 for Green Street in Dingle.
Despite being the third largest allocation of any local authority outside the big cities, the funding allocated to Kerry was just over a quarter of what Kerry County Council applied for.
The council originally sought over €21 million in active travel funding for the county.
Projects in Milltown, Tarbert, Farranfore, Ballylongford and Castleisland were among the unsuccessful parts of the funding application made by Kerry County Council.
