Over €1.7 million (€1,718,685) has been allocated to Kerry Airport under a government programme.
The funding was announced by Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Hildegarde Naughton, as part of the Regional Airports Programme 2021-2025.
The allocations will contribute towards capital investment in safety, security and sustainability projects, with many including valuable climate benefits.
Over €2 million was allocated to Knock Airport and almost €900,000 to Donegal, while Shannon Airport was allocated €6.3 million under the separate COVID-19 Regional State Airports Programme 2021.
Minister of State, Hildegarde Naughton, says the funding represents a strong commitment by Government to help Ireland's regional airports remain financially sustainable, following the largest shock that the sector has ever faced.
The funding is being welcomed by Minister Norma Foley, and Deputies Brendan Griffin and Michael and Danny Healy Rae.
