There are 777 people in Kerry receiving rent supplement.
That's according to figures which cover the period up to the end of April this year.
They show that Kerry has the fifth highest number of people on rent supplement nationally.
Rent supplement provides short-term income to ensure people who were renting, but whose circumstances have changed due to temporary loss of employment or income, can continue to meet their rental commitments.
The figures were released by Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection Heather Humphreys, following a query by Sinn Féin TD Rose Conway-Walsh.
Minister Heather Humphreys says this scheme continues to play a key role in supporting families and individuals in private rented accommodation; in Kerry 777 there are recipients of the scheme.
Nationally, up until the end of April 19,570 people were receiving rent supplement; the largest number of people receiving this supplement was in Dublin at over 9,962 and the lowest figure was recorded in Leitrim at 65.
