Over 7,500 Kerry farmers get CAP direct payments of almost €70 million

Over 7,500 (7,562) farmers in Kerry got direct payments totalling almost €70 million (€69,997,227.83) last year under the EU's Common Agricultural Policy.

Figures from the Department of Agriculture show the highest payment in Kerry went to Padraig, James and Con Barry who got a direct payment of almost €140,000 (€139,464.20).

In total, four Kerry farming enterprises got payments over €100,000.

Nationally, more than 122,000 farmers received almost €1.2 billion in direct payments last year; 800 fewer farmers claimed the payment compared to 2019.

The average payment was €9,794.
