There's no indication of anything suspicious about the fire in Killarney National Park at this point in the garda investigation.
That's according to Chief Superintendent of the Kerry Garda Division, Eileen Foster.
An update on the investigation was given at the latest meeting of the county's Joint Policing Committee.
Questions were submitted ahead of the meeting by members of the public relating to the fire in Killarney National Park last weekend.
In a written response to those questions, Superintendent of the Killarney Garda District Flor Murphy, said an investigation is underway.
He said the investigation is to establish the facts around the fire - when, where and how it started.
He added that if there is criminality found, it will be followed up on.
Superintendent Murphy confirmed a team from the Garda Technical Bureau in Dublin arrived in Kerry on Wednesday.
That team conducted examinations at a number of locations in the Muckross area of Killarney in conjunction with the Kerry Scenes of Crime Unit across Wednesday and Thursday this week.
Chief Superintendent of the Kerry Garda Divison, Eileen Foster, then stated that at this moment in time, there is nothing that indicates anything suspicious about the fire.
Chief Superintendent Foster stressed, however, that An Garda Síochána will not commit to any finalisation on that until the investigation is completed.
