There's currently no funding available to address coastal erosion at White Strand beach.
At the recent Kenmare Municipal District meeting, Cllr Michael Cahill urged the council to call on the Office of Public Works to carry out works at the beach.
Cllr Cahill said the car park and public toilets at the beach are now in danger of being eroded or washed away entirely.
In response, Kerry County Council said these works are not eligible for the OPW Minor Works Scheme or the Rural Regeneration Development Fund, and so no funding is available.
The council added, however, that improvements will be made to the car park, fencing and beach access if its current application for funding from the RRDF is successful.
