Almost 550 qualified applicants have been on the social housing list in the Tralee Municipal District area for more than eight years.
The information was released at the monthly Tralee MD meeting following a question from Sinn Fein councillor Deirdre Ferris.
Kerry County Council says 542 applicants on the Tralee MD housing list qualified before January 1st 2013 for a house.
271 applicants are waiting for one-bed accommodation, 140 for two-bed, 89 for a three-bed property, 39 for four-bed and three for a five-bed house.
114 of the applicants are getting the Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) and 101 are accommodated under the Rental Accommodation Scheme (RAS).
In the coming weeks, 62 units will be allocated in the Tralee MD area, which are due for completion in March in Ardfert and Lios Ard.
