A protest is taking place today in Tralee to highlight the difficulties being faced by musicians.
The Ordinary Working Musicians of Ireland group, which is organising the event, is appealing for a reconsideration of the blanket ban on music for weddings and outdoor gigs.
Fáilte Ireland says these guidelines which are published on its website are on behalf of the Government and reflect the decisions the Government takes on all matters relating to public health restrictions including the ban on live music.
The group says it makes no sense to allow outdoor sporting events, but not allow live music.
The protest, which will be held in adherence to public health guidelines, will take place at midday in the Square.
There are similar protests taking place nationwide today.
