The Minister of State at the Department of Children says there are no plans to cut hours for people who visit homes of the elderly and those with disabilities.
It was reported by the Irish Mail on Sunday that vital care services for older people living at home are set to be reduced because of spending cutbacks.
The CEO of the HSE, Bernard Gloster, previously stated the €22.5 billion allocated to the health service in this month’s budget was not adequate.
Minister of State at the Department of Children, Anne Rabbitte, says the Minister of State for Older People, Mary Butler, has told her this service, commonly known as home helps, will not be cut.
Speaking to Radio Kerry, Minister Rabbitte says there have been no conversations about cutting hours for home help.
