A man in his 30s is to stand trial in the Central Criminal Court accused of a brutal attack on a young woman in Tralee earlier this year.
The man is of no fixed abode, and faces a total of seven charges in relation to the alleged attack on the woman back in March.
He cannot be named because of the nature of some of these charges.
The accused man faces seven charges arising from the one alleged attack on the young woman in the town centre in March of this year.
He’s accused of rape, aggravated sexual assault, assault causing harm, threat to kill or cause serious harm, and producing a scissors in the course of the incident.
He appeared in person at Tralee District Court recently, wearing tracksuit pants, a black jacket, and runners, and sporting a neck tattoo.
The book of evidence against him, containing those seven charges, was formally served on him.
Sergeant Chris Manton said the Director of Public Prosecutions has directed he stand trial on indictment at the Central Criminal Court.
Sergeant Manton said the DPP also consented to the accused being sent forward to the Central Criminal Court on a signed plea.
Judge David Waters sent him forward for trial or on a signed plea to the next sitting of the Central Criminal Court, which is the 7th October.
