Gardaí have arrested a man and seized €140,000 worth of suspected cannabis near Killarney.
Gardaí from the Kerry Divisional Drugs Unit discovered 13 bags of suspected cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €130,000 during a search of a wooded area in Kilcummin this morning.
A man in his late teens was arrested at the scene, before being brought to Killarney Garda station, where he is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
Gardaí carried out a follow up search at a house in the area and seized a further €10,000 worth of suspected cannabis herb, as well as a weighing scales and a small amount of cash.
The searches were carried out as part of an ongoing investigation into the sale and supply of drugs in the Killarney area, and gardaí say all suspected drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
