The Cathaoirleach of the Listowel Municipal District says the government must stop pandering to the Green Party.

Fine Gael councillor Michael Foley was speaking after a Sunday Business Post article said there were six system alerts to the electricity grid to warn of capacity shortages over the past year.

He says Fianna Fáil and his party need to get serious when it comes to security of energy supply.

Cathaoirleach Foley is calling for Eamon Ryan, the Minister for the Environment, to lessen his opposition to the Shannon LNG project.

He adds the proposed project is critically important for all in North Kerry and would help provide security of energy supply for the country.
