A Listowel councillor looks set to become the next Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council.

It's understood that Fianna Fáil's Jimmy Moloney is to be nominated by a voting bloc, including councillors from his party, Fine Gael, Labour and Independents at the council AGM later this month.

It's anticipated that Fianna Fáil Cllr Michael Cahill will be nominated for the position of Leas Cathaoirleach.

The council and various municipal district AGMs will take place on June 28th; whether the meetings will take place in-person or online will depend on public health guidelines.
