The Limerick Greenway officially opens to the public today.
The 40 km scenic route, which runs along the path of the old Limerick to Kerry train tracks, connects Rathkeale, Newcastle West and Abbeyfeale.
The city and county council hope the 10 million euro greenway will help balance the tourism sector in Limerick, allowing smaller market towns to 'thrive and flourish'.
