Appointments for Kerry drivers aged 70 and over renewing their licences have been cancelled.
The National Drivers Licence Service says anyone over 70 whose licence expired between 1st March and 31st August has had its validity extended by seven months.
Kathy, who was speaking on Talkabout, drove her parents to Tralee yesterday to renew their licences, which are due to expire.
However, upon arriving at the centre in Manor West, they were told that all appointments for those aged 70 years and over have been cancelled and licences extended; this meant they could not renew their licences.
The NDLS says it regrets it hadn’t time to inform everyone of the cancellations.
Kathy feels the move was ageist.
