Permanent TSB will move to auto cash desk services at its Killarney branch from May 17th.
A spokesperson for says the bank is committed to its 76-branch network and had no plans to reduce the number of branches it operates.
However, 44 branches including the one in Killarney will have quick banking machines installed; this will automate cash transactions and free staff to support customers, according to Permanent TSB.
General Secretary of the Financial Services Union, John O’Connell says it’s important to hear that staff will remain at the Killarney branch to help customers.
Mr O’Connell says major change is happening in the banking sector.
