The 2021 schedule of work for the Killarney Municipal District has been agreed by councillors.
Cathaoirleach of Killarney MD Brendan Cronin paid tribute to Kerry County Council staff for their delivery of essential services last year despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Under the Municipal District Works Plan agreed by councillors at Killarney MD €1 million has been allocated to advance the design of the N22 Farranfore to Killarney road improvement scheme.
€200,000 each has been assigned for improvement works at the Aghadoe junction, the Lewis road junction and Garries Bridge all on the N22.
€200,000 has been allocated for safety improvement works at Finegan’s Cross in Kilcummin and €30,000 for work on Listry Bridge.
Over €59,000 has been assigned for national road maintenance and almost €59,000 for the upkeep of national secondary roads.
Almost €600,000 has been awarded to maintain outdoor leisure areas in Killarney Municipal District, over €513,000 has been allocated for street cleaning and €38,000 for the upkeep of playgrounds.
€93,000 has been allocated for the maintenance of 518 housing units and €80,000 has been earmarked for footpaths.
€94,000 has been approved for drainage works and almost €84,000 has been allocated for the upkeep car parks.
