Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce is urging anybody with information about the fires to come forward.
President of the chamber and Fianna Fáil councillor Niall Kelleher says the fires have left a trail of destruction and has caused devastation and upset in Killarney.
Niall Kelleher says whether it was a discarded match, the remnants of a barbecue or a deliberate act of vandalism, the act was reckless and showed a disregard for both nature and human life.
The chamber wants an investigation to be carried out, both to find the cause of the fire and to lessen the chance of it happening again.
Kerry Green Party representative Diarmaid Griffin says the party is devastated to see the destruction in the park.
He says if any good is to come from this, it’s that measures such as not putting farmers in a position to burn scrub, managing vegetation in critical areas to prevent spread, and continue trialling equine and goat grazing as a vegetation management solution will be expedited.
