Kerry's first ever forest leader training course got underway last month.
The purpose of the course is to give trainees the knowledge, practical and teaching skills to lead forest school sessions for primary school children.
Forest school is an outdoor based discipline that provides child-led learning in a natural environment, such as woodlands and parklands, to build up resilience and resourcefulness through connection and play in nature.
The leader training course took place in Kilderry Woods near Milltown, was provided by Huathe, a UK based company, and was facilitated by The Nature Hub from the Gap of Dunloe.
The trainees will shortly lead a six-week pilot school, and organisers say schools and other groups can avail of an introduction to forest school by visiting naturehub.ie.
