Kerry TD Brendan Griffin is calling on Tánaiste Leo Varadkar to provide emergency compensation for businesses affected by recent flooding in Kenmare.
The Fine Gael TD has said he is aware of the significant impact that the flooding has had and that it's a further difficult challenge to businesses that are just getting back on their feet.
Deputy Griffin is calling on the Tánaiste, who is also the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, to activate the Humanitarian Support Scheme for Small Businesses to help those affected.
The scheme would provide financial compensation of up to €5,000 depending on the damage incurred, rising to €20,000 where there is significantly more than €5,000 worth of damage.
The funding can apply to small businesses, sports clubs, and voluntary and community organisations.
Brendan Griffin TD has stated that while the Office of Public Works resolves the issues that caused the flooding, those affected in the town need support.
