A Kerry government TD says he's been assured that the Kerry-Dublin PSO will be re-introduced if the commercial operation of the route fails.
Ryanair has stated it plans to resume the Kerry-Dublin flight on a commercial basis from July 28th, without the need for the existing government-supported Public Service Obligation (PSO).
Kerry Fine Gael TD and Deputy Government Chief Whip Brendan Griffin previously called on the Transport Minister to have a contingency plan in place for the PSO in the event of a change of circumstances.
Deputy Griffin says the PSO is currently not an option available to government, as a commercial offer has been made for the Kerry-Dublin route.
The Fine Gael TD now says he's been assured by both Ministers that the PSO will be re-introduced in the event of market failure on the route.
