Primary and special schools in Kerry are being invited to participate in a new language sampler module.
Education Minister and Kerry Fianna Fáil TD Norma Foley has launched the module, which allows schools identify a modern foreign language of their choice, or Irish Sign Language (ISL), to learn within the normal school timetable.
The six-week sampler module is targeted at pupils from 3rd to 6th class, for up to one hour per week, to expand their experience with languages and give them confidence in engaging with new languages.
The module is being supported by €200,000 in government funding, and participating schools will receive between €400 and €1,000 depending on the number of classrooms involved.
Interested schools should complete the Application Form available here no later than close of business on Wednesday 23 June 2021.
