The young man and teenage boy who were killed in two separate crashes in Kerry overnight have been named locally.
James O’Connor died after his motor bike was in collision with a car between Listry Cross and Faha Cross at around 8 o’clock last night.
The Killorglin man was in his 30s.
The 14-year-old boy who was killed following a crash in Killarney in the early hours of this morning has also been named.
He was Thomas Healy from the Gap of Dunloe in Beaufort.
Thomas Healy was the driver of a car which was involved in a collision on the Ross Road in Killarney at around ten past one this morning.
The other occupant of the car, another teenage boy, is in a serious condition in hospital.
The crash is being investigated by the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission.
Thomas Healy's funeral will take place at St Mary's Church, Beaufort on Saturday morning.
The young boy's family has appealed for privacy.
The Cathaoirleach of Kenmare Municipal District, Cllr Michael Cahill has offered his condolences to the families of Thomas Healy and James O’Connor, "two young people who lost their lives tragically on our roads", he said.
At today’s meeting of Killarney Municipal District, councillors and management observed a minute’s silence.
Killarney MD Cathaoirleach Marie Moloney said it was tragic to see such loss of life.
The Listry-Faha road has reopened following the fatal road traffic incident last evening, while Killarney gardaí say Ross Road is likely to remain closed until later this evening, so that technical examinations can be carried out.
