Kerry publicans are calling on people to show their support for bars which have had to remain closed.
The Vintners’ Federation of Ireland’s Support not Sympathy Campaign is asking people to take a photo outside a closed bar this Saturday and post to social media, in a show of solidarity with affected owners.
John O’Sullivan of the Munster Bar in Tralee says in March it was envisioned that the closure would last a number of weeks; however, it’s lasted five months for pubs not serving food.
He says the latest delay was especially disheartening, compounded by not having a definite date for reopening.
Mr O’Sullivan adds the affected publicans need to see government plans on reopening, as many are losing faith and struggling, both financially and mentally.
