People across Kerry are being warned to make preparations ahead of the arrival of Storm Ellen.
The Atlantic storm has resulted in an orange wind warning being issued for Kerry.
A status red warning will come into effect later in Cork.
Approaching from the south west, Storm Ellen will bring gusts of up to 120 kilometres per hour to Kerry tonight.
Meteorologist with Met Eireann, Gerry Murphy, says the orange wind warning for Kerry will come into force at 9pm and will be valid until 6 o'clock tomorrow morning.
Kerry County Council's Severe Weather Assessment Team have met several times today in advance of the storm making landfall; council crews are on standby and the weather situation is being constantly monitored.

The two public events scheduled as part of National Heritage Week for Waterville and Ballinskelligs have been cancelled due to the status orange weather warning.
Motorists are being advised to drive with extra caution tonight and tomorrow morning as there could be debris and flooding on roads.
