COVID-19 lockdowns had a detrimental effect on older people, causing isolation and loneliness.
That’s according to Sean Chairde - the South Kerry Older People's Network.
The Beaufort based organisation was set up to meet the social needs of the elderly.
It’s one of 814 groups in Kerry that are part of the Public Participation Network which was established as a link between groups on the ground and local and central government.
Sean Chairde chairperson, Maura Fitzgerald, said it’s very important now that older people are helped to return to their normal activities in their local towns and day care centres.
