The Kerry Mountain Rescue Team is reminding people to ensure they're properly prepared and equipped for any mountain activity they partake in this summer.
The reminder comes after the team responded to five callouts across the Bank Holiday weekend, which it says is a reflection of the increase in outdoor activity in the past number of weeks.
Kerry Mountain Rescue was contacted by Aeromed shortly before 3pm on Sunday afternoon, to deal with two incidents on the McGillycuddy's Reeks.
The first involved a woman who broke her ankle near the summit of Strickeen Mountain, above the Gap of Dunloe.
She was assisted by Kerry Mountain Rescue and airlifted to hospital by the Rescue 115 Coastguard helicopter.
A second female walker also sustained a lower leg injury while descending Cnoc na Toinne towards the Hags Glen.
She was treated at the scene, stretchered to Ard na Locha and then transferred by the team's landrover to an awaiting ambulance at Lisleibane.
The team also responded to a call from Anglesea Garda Station in Cork, after a male walker dislocated his knee near Lough Fada above Gougane Barra.
The man was successfully evacuated from the scene by the rescue helicopter.
Kerry Mountain Rescue says people must remember to wear appropriate footwear and clothing, carry a fully charged mobile phone, as well as food, water, raingear, suncream, map and compass, when partaking in mountain activity.
Mountain Rescue adds good route planning and navigation skills are of particular importance on mountains.
