A Kerry judge says Lidl will think he's daft if he doesn't impose prison sentences for constant shoplifting.
Sitting in Killarney District, Judge David Waters made the statement when handing down sentence to a man who had pleaded guilty to a number of shoplifting offences, one of which was committed while on bail for other theft offences.
He said Lidl in particular is targeted frequently by shoplifters, not just in Killarney, but around the county.
Judge Waters said, while the accused people change, the same premises is targeted.
In this case, he imposed a fully suspended prison sentence for the shoplifting offences, which incurred no loss to Lidl.
Lidl had no comment when contacted.
