The last surviving member of the 1966 Casement Commemoration Committee has died.
Seán Seosamh Ó Conchubhair, who was originally from Kilmoyley but living in Tralee, played a major role in the foundation of Scoil Mic Easmainn in the town in 1978.
It was the first Gaelscoil outside of Dublin and the Gaeltacht.
He was one of the driving forces behind the erection of a memorial for Roger Casement in 1966, 50 years after his historic landing on Banna Strand.
Seán Seosamh’s remains will arrive to St John’s Church, Tralee at 11.30am tomorrow (Thursday) followed by interment in the Old Rath Cemetery.
