A Killarney GP is calling for authorities to look at implementing a curfew to tackle rising COVID rates nationally.
Dr Gary Stack was speaking after NPHET named the greater Killarney area as a place where rates of COVID-19 are relatively high.
The National Public Health Emergency Team released information last evening which shows the Killarney Local Electoral Area currently has a rate of 155 cases per 100,000 population.
During the fortnight up to July 5th, Killarney LEA had the highest rate of COVID-19 in the county, with 49 cases during that period and an incidence rate of 166 per population.
Dr Stack says as people can now refer themselves for a COVID test, GPs are only getting about 10% of reports back with patients' results.
He's calling for the daily county figures to be published again as he feels people respond well to them; they haven't been published since the cyber-attack on the HSE's IT system in May.
