The Deputy Government Chief Whip is criticising the government’s mixed messaging around COVID-19 in recent days.

Brendan Griffin, who’s a Fine Gael TD for Kerry, says it’s not helpful in trying to bring the public on board with new measures to curb the spread of the virus.

Deputy Griffin is denying that Fine Gael is trying to undercut the Taoiseach, Micheál Martin.

There’s been speculation Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael have been clashing over the severity of the new COVID-19 restrictions.

Deputy Government Chief Whip, Brendan Griffin says there’s always healthy argument among cabinet, but leaks by ministers from meetings can be contradictory and unhelpful.

The Kerry TD, who was formerly a Junior Minister in the Department of Sport, is concerned about sporting organisations, but denies sport is being targeted in the restrictions.
