The Diocese of Kerry is holding firm on its announcement last week that it'll follow public health advice when setting a date for the resumption of first communions and confirmations.
The bishops of several dioceses have said they'll proceed with these ceremonies in the coming days and weeks in contravention of COVID-19 advice.
In a statement issued this afternoon, the Diocese of Kerry says it hopes that first communion and confirmation ceremonies will take place once schools return after the summer holidays.
However, this would be subject to prevailing Government and public health advice.
The diocese says the matter is being kept under review.
It's thanking families, teachers and priests for their continued patience and understanding.
