A Kerry County Councillor has claimed that many of the footpaths in Caherciveen town are in a dangerous and shocking condition.
Fianna Fáil Councillor Michael Cahill made the claim at a recent meeting of Kerry County Council.
Cllr Cahill highlighted the footpath between the Caherciveen Community Hospital and SuperValu in the town as a top priority, and called for significant investment in Caherciveen.
The Council replied that funding is being made available to improve pedestrian facilities in the New Market Street/Main Street area as part of the Caherciveen Town Centre Regeneration Project.
The Council also says it has been making a case to Transport Infrastructure Ireland to improve footpaths on the N70 Ring of Kerry route through the town.
