Kerry County Council will honour this year’s All-Ireland winning senior ladies football team with a civic reception.
The update was provided at this month’s meeting of the council.
The Kerry ladies won this year’s All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, after beating Galway in the final by 3-14 to 0-11.
It was the county’s first ladies All-Ireland title since 1993.
At this month’s meeting of Kerry County Council, Cathaoirleach Breandán Fitzgerald, followed by other councillors, congratulated the team for bringing the Brendan Martin Cup back to Kerry after 31 years.
He said there was a request to honour the team and the council will be doing so.
Chief Executive of the council, Martin O’Donoghue, added there was a number of requests for a civic reception, and it’s a long time since the ladies team was honoured in the council chamber.
Mr O’Donoghue said the council will consult the county board of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association to arrange a date, as the county championship is currently ongoing.
The Chief Executive said they will try and set up a date in the not-so-distant future.
