Kerry County Council is to introduce a new choice based letting system for allocating council houses early next year.
It involves advertising properties online among qualifying applicants who can view them and decide if they’re interested.
So far this year, people on the housing waiting list have refused 116 offers of houses by Kerry County Council and approved housing bodies.
Independent Cllr Jackie Healy-Rae, who’s been calling for choice based letting to be introduced, believes the new system will change this.
He says some of the reasons given for refusing housing are unreasonable.
