A Kerry county councillor wants the Tánaiste to approve a rates waiver for businesses for the next 12 months.
Independent councillor Jackie Healy-Rae brought a motion to the Castleisland Corca Dhuibhne Municipal District meeting, seeking the council seek a further full waiver on rates for businesses until at least April 2022.
He said businesses in the county have suffered during the pandemic and, as the economy recovers from the pandemic, they need security and assistance to survive.
Following councillor Healy-Rae's motion, it was approved to write to the Minister for Business and Enterprise Leo Varadkar and seek a further rates waiver.
