Kerry County Council needs to focus on getting the basic services right instead of ambitious projects.
That’s the view of Independent Kerry County Councillor Brendan Cronin.
He was reacting to council Chief Executive, Moira Murrell’s request for councillors to approve a 15% increase in the Local Property Tax for next year; a move he is against.
Ms Murrell said the extra money would be used for large-scale projects across the county.
Councillor Cronin said he was very surprised by the request given the economic impact of the pandemic on households.
He said the council should focus on getting basic services right such as the mid-Kerry water supply and honouring commitments on hedge cutting in a timely manner:
