A Kerry County Councillor says a report raising concerns about the high number of one-off houses being built in the county is unfair.
The Office for the Planning Regulator is concerned that up to 59% of all new residences constructed between 2015 and 2020 in Kerry were located in the open countryside.
In its submission on the new Kerry County Development Plan, the independent agency says the trend is impacting on urban areas and should be turned around.
Kerry County Council says the new plan, which is in its first stage, has received 204 submissions, including from the OPR; these will be used to inform the new plan, which will be developed over the next two years.
