A Kerry County Councillor is calling on the Minster for Health and maternity hospitals to allow partners join expectant mothers for all appointments.
Labour councillor Marie Moloney is aware of a number of pregnant women who are upset they have to attend appointments and scans alone.
She says they are also distressed at the way their baby's other parent is being treated.
The Killarney Cllr says it doesn't make sense that people can gather in groups of six, yet can't be present for such important appointments or during the early stages of labour.
