A Kerry county councillor is calling for the provision of a safe pedestrian crossing in Ardfert.
At the recent Tralee Municipal District meeting, Sinn Féin councillor Deirdre Ferris said the village has no pedestrian crossing, even though the only road through it is the main route from Tralee to Banna, Ballyheigue, Kilmoyley and Causeway.
Cllr Ferris added there is no route that allows for safe pedestrian passage across this main route.
The Sinn Féin councillor called on the council to prepare a plan for a safe route for pedestrians, to allow them to safely access amenities in the village, such as the post office and playground.
In response, Kerry County Council said it will carry out a survey of pedestrian movements within Ardfert village to determine any need for a controlled pedestrian crossing facility.
